Clare and Campbell Rogers of The Sydney Junction Hotel, the Argenton Hotel and the Gunyah Hotel are proud to announce that across their three venues they have been nominated as finalists in 22 categories at the annual 2017 NSW Australian Hotels Association Awards for Excellence. The Sydney Junction Hotel has been nominated as a finalists for overall Hotel of the Year country for 2017, a huge achievement that the Rogers are incredibly proud of.
The annual Australian Hotels Association Awards for Excellence recognize innovation and quality in the hotel industry. John Whelan, AHA CEO commenting that; ‘the award finalists and winners really are the best in the business’.
The Rogers are incredibly proud to have all three of their hotels recognized and believe that it is a reflection of the staff, the food, the services and their commitment of rebranding hotels as more holistic family-family venues.
The Rogers relocated to Newcastle in 2014 and took over the reins of the Sydney Junction Hotel. In September of 2014 they began their huge refurbishment and renovation of the hotel which once stood as a tired eye saw on the corner of bustling Beaumont Street with a vision to rebrand and bring a new lease of life to the hotel. In the years to follow, the hotel underwent a huge transformation into what it is today- a family friendly hotel with an exceptional standard of food and service boosting a modern, spacious design that proudly holds reputation as Newcastle’s premiere establishment for drinks and dining in a relaxed atmosphere.
Since 2014, Clare and Campbell have taken Newcastle by storm, purchasing the Argenton Hotel in October of 2015 and recently taking over the Gunyah Hotel in Belmont in October of 2017. All the while the Sydney Junction Hotel sored to new heights proudly winning AHA Awards NSW Best Casual Dining Experience in 2016 after being nominated as finalists in a multitude of awards in both 2015 and 2016.
The Argenton Hotel is a success story in its own right too. Revamped and about to undergo huge renovations in 2018, both the bistro and bar have earnt themselves reputation as the best quality food and service in the area. The large beer garden was fitted out with 4 modern cabana huts and a huge 17.5m kids adventure playground to cater to the areas demographic. Being a family-friendly hotel that allows kids and parents to both enjoy a day out was imperative in the hotels new direction and design.
2017 is set to be the biggest year yet for the young couple who are incredibly proud to announce that across the 3 Newcastle Hotels they have been nominated and placed as finalists in 22 awards at the annual Australian Hotels Association NSW Awards for Excellence.
The Sydney Junction Hotel has been nominated for 16 awards including; best family friendly hotel, best outdoor experience, best new/redeveloped hotel, best promotional concept, best social media activity, best casual dining, best steak venue, best burger Country, best cheap eats under $15, best head chef of the year- Sarah Hill, industry rising star- Ross Boland, best nightclub/nightlife venue, best sports bar, best keno, best TAB and best of hotel of the year! This multitude of awards and variety of categories pays homage to the hard work of staff and the efforts of the Rogers who looked at the once dormant hotel and developed it into the diverse successful business it is today.
Hoping to take out each category and come home from the annual awards as hotel of the year, The Sydney Junction Hotel is the catalyst of transformation, rebranded as a safe, family-friendly hotel that boasts excellent food, friendly staff and fantastic facilities and entertainment.
The Rogers family believe that catering to families and incorporating family-friendly elements to their hotels is what sets them apart and what allows their venues to have a point of difference and greater sense of appeal to patrons and the public. This aspect of their vision has worked well for the Argenton Hotel which has been nominated as a finalist in 5 categories in the 2017 AHA Awards; best family-friendly hotel, best outdoor experience, best promotional concept, best cheap eats under $15 country and best casual dining. The hotels bistro has undergone huge development with a new kitchen, new team and new menu which has been received incredibly well. The food at the hotel is of exceptional quality, standard of service and presentation.
The Gunyah Hotel hasn’t been left out, also a finalist in the 2017 annual Australian Hotels Association NSW Awards for Excellence in best casual dining venue, country. With a restaurant that looks out over the stunning Lake Macquarie, the view is second to none and the food is tasty and of an extremely high standard of quality.
With the winners to be announced at the annual Awards night on the 21st of November, the Rogers stand a strong chance at taking out a number of categories and look forward to a continued partnership with the AHA and building their businesses within the Hunter region.
